# detour.sh product direction

detour.sh is becoming a developer's local toolbelt: a Docker Desktop container
for context and optional tools across projects. It will expose an MCP server to
the developer's chosen harness for context lookup and selected checks before
actions, commits, PRs, or publication.

Sharing is explicit: a selected file export, or later an opt-in account and a
temporary link that another container can import. The link shares a snapshot,
not access to the developer's live container.

The first product should run locally, persist data in a mounted volume, and
export user-owned context as Markdown and JSON.

Routes, software catalogs, product recommendations, and vendor indexing are no
longer the product direction.
